GrowthBara is a small Bengaluru company that builds Priya, an AI receptionist for clinics in India. We also run patient-enquiry campaigns for clinics, which is how we saw how many calls go unanswered.
Why Priya exists
I'm Chandra, the founder. While running ads for clinics, I kept seeing the same thing: the ads worked, people called, and a large share of those calls were never answered. The patient was ready to book, and the phone just rang out.
Most AI phone tools I tried were built for English-speaking callers in other countries. They struggled with Indian names, with a caller who starts in Telugu and switches to English, and with a busy reception full of background voices. So I started building one for Indian clinics.
How Priya is built and checked
Priya runs on speech recognition and voice models built for Indian languages, connected to a booking flow and the clinic's Google Sheet. The part that matters most is what happens after each call:
- Every call is transcribed again from the recording and compared with what Priya heard live.
- Anything she misheard (a name, a date, a time) or answered badly is written down and fixed in her rules.
- Each fix is tested on past calls before it goes live, and can be rolled back.
This is slow work, and it is the reason Priya keeps getting better at the calls Indian clinics actually get.
What we will not do
- Show customer names, reviews or results that are not real.
- Let Priya give medical advice or quote prices a clinic has not approved.
- Sell or share patients' data. See the privacy policy.
